GEMS, Team Building, and using a Growth Mindset

In weeks 1 & 2 we focused on what it means to use our GEMS, working as a team and using a growth mindset! This included having a super fun year 6 Team building day.
Each challenge was different and required us to work together in order to complete it.

The games we played were the Standing long jump relay, The Human knot challenge, Hoop relay, The Mindfield, Frogs & Ponds, and the silent Playground challenge!

In the afternoon we looked at the challenges and reflected on what they might mean for us this year. We also looked at this growth mindset A-Z poster  and thought about a way we could recreate this to make our class treaty!

So watch this space and we will present the final treaty shortly after camp :)

The Human Knot challenge! Possibly one of the trickiest activities!

The Human knot challenge requires us to:

  • Be patient,
  • Use a growth mindset
  • Show empathy to others,
  • Help when we see someone stuck (literally),
  • Take our time to think,
  • Collaborate,
  • Speak kindly to one another
  • Encourage each other
  • aaaand of course work as a team!

  1. Hi Room 1. I really like the way you are working together to solve these challenges. I'm interested to see how they relate to our GEMS and what your thinking is around our Learning Powers.
